NIH sought to strengthen its data governance and analytics capability to support national health research and evidence-based policy. Key challenges included fragmented data, lack of clear stewardship, and limited secure environments for data analysis.

As NIH’s Data Governance Consultant, we guided and supported their teams across various initiatives including NIH-DaRS (Data Repository System) and the Trusted Research Environment (TRE). We provided strategic frameworks, training, and hands-on coaching in data management, governance, Databricks, and AWS platforms.

Our work enabled NIH to establish strong data governance structures, enhance internal capabilities, and promote responsible data sharing. NIH-DaRS was strengthened to support data discoverability and long-term preservation. TRE was deployed to ensure researchers could securely access sensitive data. These efforts positioned NIH to scale its digital and research initiatives with confidence.
